About the position

The Purchasing Agent at Aviation Ground Equipment Corp. plays a crucial role in managing the procurement of materials necessary for projects within the Aerospace & Defense sector. This position involves collaborating with the Purchasing Manager to ensure timely and efficient purchasing processes, maintaining supplier relationships, and adhering to quality standards in an ISO 9001:2015 environment.

Responsibilities

  • Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to the master list and clarifying unclear items.
  • Submits competitive RFQs to vendors and purchases materials per MRP report and internal requisitions.
  • Places production material orders in a timely manner and monitors them to completion.
  • Prepares purchase/work orders by verifying specifications and prices and obtaining approval from the requisitioning department.
  • Obtains purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers, monitoring, and expediting orders.
  • Manages and maintains relationships with suppliers on the Approved Supplier List to ensure quality of goods, timely delivery, and compliance with contract terms.
  • Prepares purchase orders in the manufacturing software and writes up orders outside of the software with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation.
  • Keeps information accessible by sorting and filing documents.
  • Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Follows departmental and quality processes set forth by the organization in an ISO 9001:2015 environment.
  • Assists in resolving issues including shipment errors, quality issues, missing paperwork, and any non-conformances.
  • Explores alternate supply sources.
  • Follows and provides feedback on processes set forth by the department for organization and data management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Supply Chain or 2-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and Purchasing Software such as MISys.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of commodity benchmarks, data analysis, and purchasing best practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Experience working in an ISO environment.
  • Strong organizational and prioritizing skills.
  • Analytical and critical mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
