SteelFab Oregon is seeking a Purchasing Coordinator to join our dynamic team in Spokane, WA. This full-time position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $25 to $32, depending on experience. As a Purchasing Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in supporting our projects across the nation by ensuring that we procure high-quality materials and services efficiently and cost-effectively. In this role, you will be responsible for researching and comparing suppliers, selecting reliable vendors based on material quality and cost, and monitoring inventory levels to ensure timely fulfillment of shop orders. You will prepare and process purchase orders, maintain accurate records of transactions, and liaise with vendors to expedite deliveries and resolve any discrepancies. Your analytical skills will be essential as you utilize spreadsheets to make informed purchasing decisions and ensure compliance with contracts and agreements. The Purchasing Coordinator will also support project teams by managing submittals and compliance packages, ensuring that all buying agreements are adhered to, and negotiating product returns to minimize inventory levels. This position requires a proactive approach to managing back orders and tracking credits, as well as a strong focus on reducing long-term inventories and maximizing project profitability. Responsibilities

  • Researching and comparing suppliers, goods, and services.
  • Selecting suppliers based on reliability, material quality, terms offered, and cost-efficiency.
  • Monitoring supplies and inventory for shop orders.
  • Preparing and processing purchase orders.
  • Maintaining records of all transactions, purchase orders, receipts, and payments.
  • Scheduling and verifying purchase deliveries.
  • Procuring multiple prices on orders to ensure the best pricing, delivery, and value on the majority of orders.
  • Ideally, procuring three bids for all requisitions.
  • Utilizing spreadsheets for analysis and best purchasing decisions.
  • Ensuring contract compliance for all material and equipment.
  • Supporting project teams with submittals and contract compliance packages.
  • Meeting reasonable timelines to reduce product shortages.
  • Entering purchase orders accurately into company management systems.
  • Line-item identification and timely pricing of purchase orders.
  • Liaising and rectifying purchase order errors or corrections with Accounts Payable.
  • Ensuring all buying agreements are being followed.
  • Contacting vendors to follow up and expedite purchase order items.
  • Verifying and reporting on price changes on purchase orders.
  • Updating vendor information files.
  • Assisting accounting with PO to invoice by matching and correcting problems.
  • Maintaining the goal of zero long-term inventories.
  • Ensuring accuracy of purchase orders to allow for purchase discounts with vendors.
  • Negotiating product returns after project completion to minimize all inventories and maximize project profitability.
  • Relieving yard inventory through running requisitions to reduce overall company inventories.
  • Negotiating site storage, product releases, and any other ideas to reduce material handling.
  • Tracking and ensuring credits are applied to accounts.
  • Tracking and managing all back orders to ensure timely delivery of all material and equipment.
  • Purchasing equipment and rough-in materials for projects.
  • Requesting and forwarding submittals to meet deadlines.
  • Purchasing raw materials required for fabrication.

Requirements

  • Must have a thorough understanding of the purchasing process.
  • Associate Degree with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of skills and experience generally expected for the role.
  • Proficient in inventory management software programs.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organization and documentation skills.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
