About The Position

The Quality Assurance Manager at Ventura Foods is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing food safety, quality assurance, and sanitation programs to ensure compliance with customer, federal, and state regulatory requirements. This role involves providing leadership to the QA team, promoting a strong food safety culture, and serving as the plant liaison with regulatory agencies and customers. The manager will drive continuous improvement initiatives and oversee the quality assurance laboratory and pest control programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree highly preferred, with a focus in Food Science or Microbiology being a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in the Quality Assurance field, with 3 years of supervisory experience desired.
  • Demonstrated increasing responsibility in a fast-paced manufacturing environment in the food or related industry.
  • Strong leadership, team building, and motivational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, be decisive, and possess strong communication and basic computer skills.
  • Statistical Analysis and Problem Solving Skills (5Why's, Fishbone Diagrams, etc.) strongly recommended.
  • PCQI/HACCP certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support, leadership, and direction to QA Supervision and Sanitation staff in a 24-hour facility.
  • Make staffing decisions, provide training and development opportunities, and conduct performance reviews and coaching sessions with direct reports.
  • Maintain and improve product quality by completing product and compliance audits and investigating consumer complaints.
  • Perform internal audits of the facility to ensure adherence to company and regulatory procedures.
  • Execute and monitor preventative measures outlined in the Food Safety plan, including corrective and preventative actions.
  • Measure, track, and trend key metrics and process indicators, reporting on QA Business Plans and scorecards.
  • Maintain department budgets to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Oversee the Quality Assurance Laboratory, including microbiological, chemical, physical, and sensory aspects of food products.
  • Coordinate sampling and testing with Production and oversee the Pest Control program.
  • Ensure all applicable training is completed for QA and Sanitation staff and maintain a training matrix.
  • Act as plant liaison in dealings with regulatory agencies and customer representatives.
  • Review and maintain all required processing records and regulatory inspections and reports.
  • Provide support to R&D on projects as needed.
