About the position

The Quality Auditor at Spartan Light Metal Products is responsible for performing quality auditing functions and overseeing containment activities for parts produced at die cast machines and finished goods areas. This role involves conducting dimensional inspections using coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and ensuring compliance with quality standards and customer requirements. The position emphasizes collaboration, safety, and quality, aligning with the company's core values and contributing to operational and quality metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Audits and inspects Spartan manufactured parts and supplied components to identify specific defects according to internal and external visual and dimensional criteria.
  • Enforces and emphasizes proper inspection techniques to operations staff and provides feedback to leadership.
  • Handles changing daily priorities and works required overtime as needed.
  • Ensures all first piece and containment activities are performed accurately according to defined procedures.
  • Performs lab CMM measurement duties for production parts as required per control plans.
  • Reads lab measurement reports and communicates results to appropriate personnel.
  • Works with quality engineers and lab technicians to contribute to company needs via capability studies and other quality checks.
  • Tests, masters, and troubleshoots all dimensional measuring and testing equipment for conformance to established standards.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities as requested by quality engineers or leaders.
  • Maintains an understanding of the IATF 16949 standard and customer-specific requirements for QMS.
  • Performs internal auditing and supports continuous improvement activities.
  • Attends and completes required in-house and external quality training, utilizing this training to train others.
  • Contributes to a positive work environment through effective communication and interaction with coworkers and supervisors.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of related experience in manufacturing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience auditing parts to ensure QMS standards and customer requirements are met.
  • Experience running CMM and other types of gauges.
