About the position
The position involves performing inspections of mechanical parts at various production stages to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications. The role requires conducting first piece inspections, managing nonconformance reports, and overseeing special processes and testing to maintain compliance with quality management systems and customer requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical, welding, finish, and final inspections of parts based on AQL.
- Conduct 1st piece inspection of parts and components before production runs.
- Inspect parts returning from vendors for compliance with drawings and specifications.
- Review supplier certification records for contract compliance.
- Open and manage nonconformance reports and corrective actions for internal and supplier components.
- Coordinate with purchasing, management, and quality staff to issue material and process certifications.
- Oversee special process inspections and testing for chem film, passivation, spot welding, welding, and painting.
- Participate in registrar, internal, and customer audits and quality control meetings.
Requirements
- Knowledgeable in inspecting fabricated or machined parts using measuring tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, and pin gauges.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience with AS9100, ISO 9001, and NADCAP quality management systems is a plus.
- VT and PT welding inspection experience is a plus.
