About the position

Hanwha Aerospace USA is seeking an Aerospace Quality Inspector to perform inspections on aircraft engine components to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, customer requirements, and company specifications. The role involves conducting 1st piece, in-process, and final inspections, as well as performing inspection procedures that include checking dimensions and assessing finishes. The position is based out of Cheshire, CT, and reports to the Quality Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain blueprints and company specification sheet for the item and particular order.
  • Review internal operation sheets against customer blueprints.
  • Determine inspection procedure to ensure complete verification of specifications and dimensions.
  • Obtain necessary fixtures, gauges, and indicators to check parts for compliance with specifications, within prescribed tolerances.
  • Complete assurance checklists during the process and perform dimensional checks of parts while in the machine when necessary.
  • Reject unacceptable items, document nonconformance, and move part to quality clinic.
  • Complete required company paperwork on machined parts inspection activity.
  • Read and understand work instructions such as Op Sheets, Engine Manuals, Customer Purchase Order Requirements, etc.
  • Use measuring instruments such as a micrometer, caliper, swing gage, etc.
  • Accurately document all inspections (Ex: Receiving, In-Process, Final) and work with operators to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Communicate with co-workers, colleagues, and Supervisors to receive instructions and/or guidance and coordinate activities.
  • Organize and maintain inspection department, gaging methods, etc.
  • Work independently and efficiently to meet customer requirements.
  • Work with shop personnel to induct incoming parts and aid in the expeditious shipment of critical parts.
  • Read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Adhere to standards of safety and housekeeping as established.
  • Perform other related duties or responsibilities as requested or required.
  • Participate in training as required.
  • Travel 5-10% domestically.

Requirements

  • Must be a 'US Person' as defined by US Government and able to work without restriction with ITAR related data.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • 1+ years experience as an aerospace part inspector; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to use measuring instruments such as a micrometer, caliper, swing gage, etc.
  • Knowledge of blueprint reading and machinery limitations.
  • Must have visual acuity enough to read machine dials, gages, op sheets and precision measuring equipment.
  • Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak English at a functional level.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Demonstrate adaptability to different inspection methods.
