About the position

Nova is looking for a R D System Scientist. The system engineering SA team, composed of physicists and engineers, spearheads the development of advanced metrology technologies from research to product delivery, integrating hardware, mechanical design, optics, electronics, motion control, algorithms, and software. They create metrological products for the semiconductor industry, requiring precision, speed, and robustness for high-volume manufacturing. System engineers must exhibit innovative and critical thinking, deep understanding of multidisciplinary systems, and insight into physics and algorithms. They balance technical expertise with a broad view of customer needs, marketing, service, and production, defining and delivering technology solutions comprehensively. The team seeks proactive, scientifically minded experts committed to high.

Responsibilities

  • Theoretical and experimental study of new system methods and algorithms to support state-of-the-art solutions
  • Define and oversee the implementation of your solutions
  • Hands on tool experiments and testing in clean-room environment
  • Service and production guidance and support on challenging topics
  • Collaboration and system lead with HW and SW engineers
  • Data and statistical analysis
  • Advanced logic and sequence design
  • Algorithm development
  • Performance and critical behavior testing and design
  • Developing practical solutions and methods for critical challenges
  • Conduct lab and on-site system diagnostics, troubleshooting, and problem-solving. Tasks include root-cause analysis, mitigation plans, implementing robust system calibration methods, and product transfer to manufacturing.
  • Intensive interface with diverse disciplines: physics, optics, algorithms, mechanics, electronics, and software.
  • Transform customer's high-level requirements into concrete technical specifications and design.
  • Flights to customers around the world (2-3 times per year)

Requirements

  • M.Sc./Ph.D. in Physics / Engineering (Electronics, Mechanical, Optics)
  • Experimental research accompanied by theoretical work on real data - advantage
  • Optics experience - advantage
  • Multidisciplinary - advantage
  • At least 3 years of experience in multi-disciplinary advanced technology R D
  • Python/Matlab hands-on experience.
  • Work in complex activities in project and matrix environments in parallel.
  • Significant presentation and writing experience or teaching experience
  • Scientific publications or significant technological documentation
