About the position

Nightwing is seeking an experienced and cleared Radio Communications Specialist to support U.S. Government operations in the Herndon area. This position is critical for providing Senior level Program Management, Administrative, and Engineering Support for customer communications-based projects. The role requires a strong background in tactical communications, particularly with ICOM, Motorola, and Harris equipment, and involves occasional travel to Springfield or Warrenton, VA. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of six years of direct experience with tactical communications projects and a solid understanding of installation procedures and field training of personnel. In this role, you will be responsible for explaining technical procedures and processes clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. You will need to understand and respond to comprehensive tactical requirements and adhere to security and safety standards, including counter-intelligence and applicable communications policies. The position also requires the ability to independently perform specialized equipment and system installations, modifications, and upgrades, as well as testing and resolving equipment and system problems. Candidates must be willing to perform extended Temporary Duty Assignments (TDYs) in potentially dangerous or hostile environments and must be medically and administratively cleared for travel. A Bachelor’s Degree is required, along with a TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph on day one. Responsibilities

  • Provide Senior level Program Management, Administrative, and Engineering Support for customer communications-based projects.
  • Explain technical procedures and processes clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Understand and respond to comprehensive tactical requirements from customers.
  • Adhere to security and safety standards, including counter-intelligence and applicable communications policies.
  • Independently perform specialized equipment and system installations, modifications, and upgrades.
  • Test, identify, and resolve tier 1 and tier 2 equipment and system problems.
  • Perform extended TDYs in dangerous or hostile environments.
  • Complete Fall Protection training and work at heights.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of six (6) years of experience in tactical communications projects.
  • Direct experience with ICOM, Motorola, and Harris equipment.
  • Solid background in current installation procedures and field training of personnel.
  • Ability to explain technical procedures and processes clearly and accurately.
  • Excellent knowledge of tactical systems and ability to respond to customer requirements.
  • Ability to adhere to security and safety standards and applicable communications policies.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes and ability to perform installations and modifications independently.
  • Ability to test and resolve equipment and system problems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Willingness to obtain weapons certification if not already certified.
  • Tower Climbing Certification within one year of start date.
