About the position

The Radiologic Technologist position at Danbury Hospital involves performing diagnostic radiographs while ensuring patient safety and comfort. The role includes providing clinical instruction to prospective students and evaluating their competencies. Responsibilities

  • Greet patient, introduce self, and check patient identification.
  • Review patient script and Cerner requisition to ensure the appropriate exam is being performed.
  • Acquire appropriate history from patient that is pertinent to the exam being performed.
  • Explain procedure and answer any questions the patient has regarding the test.
  • Follow department protocol for exam and ensure the safety & comfort of the patient.
  • Shield patient according to department protocol and follow ALARA standards.
  • Produce and review high quality x-rays for interpretation by the Radiologist.
  • Interact professionally with patient and family.
  • Attend annual hospital review & departmental in-services meetings.
  • Practice medicine & surgical aseptic procedures and assist Radiologist with invasive procedures.
  • Work well with other modalities to provide complete patient care.
  • Provide clinical instruction to prospective radiographers and evaluate their ability to perform procedures.
  • Maintain medical imaging records in accordance with department policies and standards.
  • Maintain clinical competency and demonstrate proficiency in assigned patient care area(s).
  • Fulfill all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent education.
  • BLS certification.
  • CT State RT License or New Graduates under CT Temporary Practice Provisions.
  • Valid ARRT certification.
  • Continuing education with 24 CEU credits for license.
  • Experience with patient care in a radiology setting, preferably zero to six months.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology or graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
