About the position

The Radiologic Technologist performs radiologic procedures under the direction of a Radiologist to evaluate pathological entities as ordered by physicians. This role involves utilizing independent judgment in determining appropriate techniques, positioning, and safety practices while ensuring optimal patient care and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Explains examination procedure to patients and prepares them for the examination.
  • Reviews clinical data on requisition and performs appropriate examination, obtaining additional patient medical history as necessary.
  • Prepares procedure room and regularly replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies.
  • Analyzes anatomical structure of patient, sets up equipment, and performs the Radiologic procedure, manually controlling the equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information.
  • May select and administer intravenous contrast media, monitoring patients for possible reactions and providing immediate care if necessary.
  • Performs all imaging procedures while demonstrating principles of radiation protection, including shielding patients and using ALARA techniques.
  • Prepares and sets up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for procedures, following infection control practices.
  • Completes all necessary worksheets, logs, patient records, and documentation.
  • Assumes responsibility for teaching/educating new hires and students as needed.
  • Resolves image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into PACS, including confirming image/series counts.
  • Completes all study indexing in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with Radiologist before performing studies.
  • Demonstrates team member standards of excellence, including open communication and fostering innovation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
  • Must maintain the required hours of continued education.
  • Must be registered in Radiography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or registry eligible, with registry to be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Healthcare Provider certification required (BCLS).
