As a full-time Recreation Programmer, you will play a vital role in transforming centers into the vibrant hubs of our community. The roles available are multifaceted, involving the development, creation, and supervision of exceptional programs for our fantastic community. Successful candidates will be able to generate innovative ideas, particularly to the implementation of mobile recreation. In addition to having demonstrated proficiency in program development and promoting community engagement, the ideal candidate should also possess a deep understanding of childcare licensing regulations and excellent methodologies. They should be flexible and willing to work during evenings, weekends, and holidays when required, and be adaptable to changing schedules and community needs. Furthermore, they should demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills and excel in collaborative team environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage diverse recreational programs tailored to the needs of our community, including youth, teens, adults, and seniors.
  • Actively engage with community members to assess their needs and interests, ensuring the programs are inclusive and accessible, especially for underserved and hard-to-reach populations.
  • Organize and oversee special events, including concerts at Lucketts Community Center.
  • Ensure all programs meet childcare licensing standards and regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members and volunteers to create a supportive and enjoyable environment for all.
  • Manage program budgets.
  • Create marketing strategies.
  • Recruit and train volunteers.
  • Carry out other essential job functions specific to the position and department assignment.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent is required.
  • Two years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Jotform, Trello, and/or eager to learn department-specific software.
  • Competence in data collection, maintaining program documentation, and preparing reports.
  • Experience in managing large-scale events and conducting outreach activities in a community setting.
  • Experience in promoting programs and events, with proficiency in Canva and social media platforms.
  • Skill in marketing and promoting programs.
