The role of Process Engineers/Technical Service Engineers is crucial as they provide technical support for plant operations. They will be assigned specific units within the Refinery, with responsibilities that include daily monitoring and troubleshooting, process optimization, and the design and development of capital projects as well as major modifications to existing units. These engineers will apply state-of-the-art technology regarding process simulation and optimization, recommending programs and procedures to enhance the economic efficiency of refining operations. Process Control Engineers will support the refinery's sophisticated Distributed Control System, working in a team environment with line operators and engineers to maintain and troubleshoot control system problems. They will also develop advanced control applications for the process units, which can range from product blending to dynamic matrix controls and rule-based systems. Additionally, Operations Research Engineers may assist in developing planning, blending, scheduling, and process models for refinery engineers, optimizing crude oil purchasing and refinery production. Environmental Engineers will work on compliance projects for the entire refinery, applying engineering principles and calculations to various environmental projects. They will perform process calculations for the Risk Management Plan and participate in inspections conducted by federal, state, or local officials. Products Control / Economics Engineers will analyze refinery process flow data, update information on gasoline blends, and develop applications to present process data for refinery operating decisions.
