Process Engineers and Technical Service Engineers at MPC provide essential technical support for plant operations. They are assigned specific units within the refinery and are responsible for daily monitoring and troubleshooting, process optimization, and the design and development of capital projects, as well as major modifications to existing units. These engineers apply state-of-the-art technology in process simulation and optimization, recommending programs and procedures to enhance the economic efficiency of refining operations. Process Control Engineers support the refinery's sophisticated Distributed Control System, collaborating with line operators and engineers to maintain and troubleshoot control system issues and develop advanced control applications for process units. Operations Research Engineers contribute to the development of planning, blending, scheduling, and process models for refinery engineers, optimizing crude oil purchasing, refinery production, and finished product scheduling. Environmental Engineers work on compliance projects across the refinery, applying engineering principles to various environmental projects and gaining knowledge of applicable environmental laws. Products Control and Economics Engineers analyze refinery process flow data, update information on gasoline blends, and develop applications to present process data for operational decisions. This role offers a comprehensive understanding of refinery operations and economics, making it a vital position within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for plant operations as a Process Engineer or Technical Service Engineer.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot specific units within the refinery on a daily basis.
  • Optimize processes and design capital projects and modifications to existing units.
  • Apply advanced technology in process simulation and optimization.
  • Recommend programs and procedures to enhance economic efficiency in refining operations.
  • Support the refinery's Distributed Control System as a Process Control Engineer.
  • Collaborate with line operators and engineers to maintain and troubleshoot control system problems.
  • Develop advanced control applications for process units, including product blending and dynamic matrix controls.
  • Assist in developing planning, blending, scheduling, and process models for refinery engineers as an Operations Research Engineer.
  • Work on compliance projects as an Environmental Engineer, applying engineering principles to various environmental projects.
  • Analyze refinery process flow data and compare it to recommended optimum levels as a Products Control / Economics Engineer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering is required.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Military experience is a plus.
