About the position
The Service Technician position at CoolSys involves repairing and overhauling refrigeration, heating, and ventilation equipment to meet customer needs efficiently and accurately. The role requires a strong background in commercial refrigeration, particularly in convenience stores or supermarkets, and emphasizes safety and customer satisfaction. Technicians will engage in diverse projects throughout the year, benefiting from ongoing education and training while working with top-tier clients in the HVAC and refrigeration industry.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the repair and overhaul of refrigeration, heating, and ventilation equipment.
- Provide service to customers by repairing and overhauling equipment such as compressors, water pumps, and air handlers.
- Perform general repair work on refrigeration and HVAC equipment, including air conditioning units and gas furnaces.
- Conduct preventative maintenance activities by diagnosing equipment malfunctions.
- Test malfunctioning systems and components using electrical and mechanical skills.
- Maintain legible corporate and personal records of work history.
- Process job tickets and work orders in a timely manner.
- Support by picking up, delivering, and installing cases.
- Perform minor construction and remodeling projects, including startups of new installations.
- Drive company vehicle safely and perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- EPA certification.
- Minimum 3-4 years of commercial refrigeration experience required.
- Certification from an accredited vocational-technical or trade school is a plus.
- Good driving record and ability to work independently.
- Emergency on-call availability.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience working on refrigeration equipment in convenience stores or supermarkets.
- Familiarity with single systems and rack systems.
- Previous work on display cases and walk-in boxes.
