About the position

The Regional Dispatcher at the Versailles Regional Dispatch Center serves as a professional staff member of the Indiana State Police, primarily responsible for receiving, collating, recording, disseminating, and accurately dispatching information to police personnel and other law enforcement agencies. This role involves utilizing various systems such as Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records Management System (RMS), and Geographic Information System (GIS) to ensure effective communication and coordination during emergencies and non-emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and dispatch information to Department police personnel and other law enforcement agencies.
  • Provide dispatch support to other Regional Dispatch Centers in response to emergencies or operational needs.
  • Coordinate emergency and non-emergency traffic with Department personnel and public safety agencies.
  • Provide emergency medical self-help to citizens while EMS units are en route.
  • Process and analyze information from IDACS, NLETS, and NCIC to meet state and federal guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Successful completion of Department typing test.
  • Completion of Department approved Dispatch Simulation test.
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification preferred.
  • Certification as a TDD/TTY operator required.
  • Certification in CPR and Emergency Medical Dispatch required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to pass a background investigation.
