About the position

The Regional Finance Director at Bon Appétit will play a pivotal role in overseeing all financial matters related to the Compass at Google Food Program in the Bay Area. This position requires a close collaboration with Compass colleagues and various stakeholders to support their diverse needs. The Director will manage and evolve core financial processes to ensure accurate and efficient invoicing and reporting, which is crucial for the day-to-day operations of the business. The role demands a comprehensive understanding of the financial landscape and the ability to work closely with operations teams to drive success. As a member of the Bay Area leadership team, the Director of Finance will report directly to the SVP of Operations, Compass at Google. This position offers the opportunity to inspire, lead, and develop a small team responsible for managing the financial aspects of the business, including invoicing, payroll, forecasting, data analysis, and contract governance. Strong financial, analytical, and critical thinking skills are essential, as is the ability to identify key business trends and issues. Building professional relationships at various organizational levels and leading senior-level discussions will be a significant part of the role. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, capable of working methodically and independently, while also leading a team to complete initiatives within tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The position is office-centric hybrid, based in Sunnyvale, California, and involves a variety of responsibilities that include finance governance, performance management, data analysis, stakeholder communication, planning, process improvement, and project management. The Director will be responsible for all financial aspects for the region, including reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and ensuring contract compliance. They will partner with key operational stakeholders to drive insights and data-driven decisions, evaluate and monitor metrics and KPIs, and lead a team in managing dashboards and reports to effectively communicate findings.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all financial aspects for the Compass at Google Food Program in the Bay Area, including reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and governance/contract compliance.
  • Partner with key operational stakeholders to drive insights and data-driven decisions, evaluating and defining metrics and KPIs to measure business performance.
  • Lead and contribute to a regional approach to data management, building and leading a team to manage dashboards, visualizations, and reports.
  • Effectively communicate with key stakeholders, building presentations and distilling analysis to drive decisions and outcomes.
  • Model, validate data, and analyze to achieve accurate forecasts supported by a data-based narrative.
  • Identify opportunities for simplification, automation, and workflow improvements in financial processes.
  • Work across sector and country teams on highly visible and impactful projects.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in finance or accounting roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • MBA, CPA, or CFA designation preferred.
  • Ability to motivate and work collaboratively with business partners and senior management.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and work streams effectively.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong presentation abilities.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a detail-oriented approach.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and changing environment, prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional finance and operations teams.
  • Proficiency in G-Suite and Microsoft applications; familiarity with analysis tools such as Python and SQL is a plus.
