About the position

The Regional Sales Manager for Abbott's Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) Therapies is responsible for directing sales efforts in a specified region, overseeing a team of sales representatives, and ensuring compliance with corporate policies. This role involves setting sales goals, managing performance, and developing staff while maintaining a strong focus on customer relationships and market potential. The position requires strategic planning and execution to drive sales growth in the medical device sector, particularly in neuromodulation technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage the sales of Abbott Deep Brain Stimulation Therapies products in a specified region.
  • Supervise sales representatives and liaise with independent sales rep firms.
  • Implement corporate policies and ensure compliance among employees.
  • Set sales goals and ensure they are met, focusing on continuous process improvement.
  • Prepare annual regional sales forecasts and participate in market potential assessments.
  • Maintain contact with major accounts and assist sales representatives in negotiations and closing deals.
  • Participate in the development of marketing policy and recommend product revisions and pricing changes.
  • Mentor and develop staff, providing career coaching and personal development opportunities.
  • Monitor performance and report status to upper management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or equivalent.
  • Typically 8+ years of experience in medical device sales or related discipline.
  • Highly developed leadership skills and experience in a management position.
  • Direct knowledge of physicians in the medical device market.
  • Documented record of delivering valuable sales information for management decision-making.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA or multi-product/therapy sales management experience.
  • 8+ years of medical device sales experience.
  • Experience in the Neuromodulation field therapy areas.
