About the position

The position at Sutter Med Center - Sacramento is focused on the comprehensive assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care in an acute patient setting. The role is accountable for providing direct patient care, educating patients and their families, and managing transitions of care. The nurse will deliver holistic and individualized care tailored to the needs of each patient in their assigned area. This includes developing, implementing, and coordinating a plan of care that takes into account various factors such as psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle considerations. In this role, the nurse will foster and maintain collaborative relationships with patients, their families, physicians, and other healthcare providers through effective communication. Adherence to hospital policies, industry standards, best practices, and applicable laws and regulations is essential to promote an optimal patient experience. The nurse will be expected to demonstrate a strong understanding of nursing theories, medical terminology, and the healthcare industry, ensuring patient safety and privacy at all times. The position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple interventions in a dynamic environment. Strong time management and organizational skills are necessary to prioritize patient care and meet time-sensitive objectives. The nurse will also be responsible for ensuring the privacy of each patient's protected health information (PHI) and building collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate goals.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and coordinate the delivery of nursing care in an acute patient setting.
  • Provide direct patient care and educate patients and their families.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate individualized care plans.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, industry standards, and applicable laws to ensure optimal patient experience.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of nursing theories, medical terminology, and healthcare practices.
  • Manage multiple interventions and prioritize patient care in a dynamic environment.
  • Ensure the privacy of patients' protected health information (PHI).
  • Engage with team members, patients, and families in various situations.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience or completion of a Sutter Health Nursing Residency Program.
  • At least 6 months of experience in PACU, ED, or ICU in a multiple specialty acute care facility within the last 2 years preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of nursing theories, concepts, and practices.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare industry regulations and best practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Time management and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a multiple specialty acute care facility.
  • Knowledge of safety precaution policies and patient care best practices.
