About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Pediatric ICU (PICU) at CentralCare Inc. is responsible for providing critical care nursing services to pediatric patients at Madigan Army Medical Center. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care tailored to the specific needs of patients across all ages. The RN will perform clinical duties similar to those of military or government civil service nurses, including patient monitoring, medication administration, and documentation of care. The position requires a commitment to patient advocacy and collaboration with medical staff to ensure high-quality care.

Requirements

  • A diploma in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Current, valid, active, and unrestricted RN license in any U.S. jurisdiction.
  • At least one year of qualifying experience in a pediatric ICU or similar specialty.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS).
  • Knowledge of pharmacology and emergency procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with advanced life support equipment and procedures.
  • Certification in pediatric nursing or critical care nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform critical care duties including assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating age-specific nursing care.
  • Provide labor-intensive care to patients with complex medical and surgical pathologies.
  • Document clinical information according to standard operating procedures, including patient history and advanced medical directives.
  • Monitor and interpret collected data, informing medical staff as appropriate.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to established protocols and the 'five rights' of medication administration.
  • Develop and manage nursing care plans, instructing patients and families on proper care.
  • Communicate pertinent patient information to the charge nurse and/or physician.
  • Manage patients requiring hemodynamic monitoring and various invasive procedures.
