About The Position

The Nurse Supervisor at Wellstar Family Medicine - Smyrna is responsible for overseeing nursing care and departmental staff activities, ensuring effective nursing services and adherence to policies and regulations. This role involves promoting clinical competency, maintaining quality control, and supporting a multidisciplinary team approach to patient care. The Nurse Supervisor will lead initiatives for practice improvement and uphold the standards of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and the American Nurses Association.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Registered Nurse required.
  • Consideration for one year experience as a licensed nurse (RN or LPN) with more than two years experience in a physician practice setting as an LPN or CMA.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Specific experience in practice specialty preferred.
  • Registered Nurse (Single State) RN - Multi-state Compact required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a leadership role within a clinical setting.
  • Certification in a specific nursing specialty.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to patients under the direction of the physician and/or office manager.
  • Plan and oversee departmental staff nursing activities to ensure effective nursing services are provided.
  • Promote clinical competency and maintain clinical quality control in back office clinical operations.
  • Lead and support survey readiness efforts related to clinical operations.
  • Develop and maintain an environment that supports professional nursing practice.
  • Evaluate patient care and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Orient clinical staff to their job responsibilities and provide leadership in clinical problem solving.
  • Implement and interpret organizational policies and procedures and nursing standards.
  • Utilize evidence-based practice to develop and implement standards of practice.
  • Lead the check-off process of annual competencies for non-provider clinical staff.
  • Attend monthly Clinical Champion meetings and lead the implementation of best practices.
  • Perform the nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
  • Provide relationship-based patient-centered care that adapts to cultural diversity.
  • Complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and mandatory education.
  • Serve as a preceptor and mentor for other professional nurses and unlicensed staff.
  • Promote evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement in nursing.
  • Participate in data collection and address practice questions using appropriate resources.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing and supply levels to achieve practice goals.
  • Act as a liaison with Clinical Informatics regarding EHR training needs.
