About The Position

The Remote Patient Observer at Bryan Health is responsible for providing continuous observation of multiple patients to ensure their safety and prevent injury. This role involves navigating electronic medical records, communicating with healthcare team members, and maintaining a high level of concentration in a busy environment. The position is located on campus in Lincoln, NE, and is not remote.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications relevant to work functions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform crucial conversations with desired outcomes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel and medical staff.
  • Ability to problem solve and engage in independent critical thinking.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Provides remote continuous observation of multiple patients to ensure safety and prevention of injury.
  • Responsible for one-on-one direct, continuous observation for patients at high risk of self-harm or injury.
  • Effectively manages multiple responsibilities and urgent responses in challenging situations.
  • Utilizes monitoring technology proficiently.
  • Navigates and retrieves information from the electronic medical record.
  • Communicates changes in patient condition to the clinical care team.
  • Monitors patients continuously, keeping them in full view.
  • Utilizes respectful verbal cues to elicit patient cooperation.
  • Participates in general conversation or distraction activities with patients as needed.
  • Communicates patient concerns to oncoming staff at change of shift.
  • Notifies bedside staff to correct poor quality monitoring.
  • Maintains documentation per procedure.
  • Engages in professional growth through seminars and workshops.
  • Participates in meetings, committees, and department projects as assigned.
