About the position

The Renewable Energy Technician, Safety Lead position at EDF Renewables North America focuses on promoting a culture of safety while performing maintenance and troubleshooting on renewable energy systems. The role involves ensuring compliance with safety guidelines, leading safety initiatives, and conducting inspections and training. The Technician will also perform unsupervised field maintenance on renewable energy generators, emphasizing safety and technical skills in the operation and maintenance of these systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct annual safety duties such as updating the facility's Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan (EPRP) and facilitating safety audits.
  • Lead monthly facility inspections and ensure proper inventory and restocking of first aid kits and PPE.
  • Conduct daily safety checks and ensure compliance with safety protocols during morning meetings.
  • Perform unsupervised corrective and preventative maintenance on renewable energy assets and energy storage systems.
  • Test and troubleshoot electrical systems, performing live electrical work in accordance with safety practices.
  • Inspect and maintain high voltage systems and renewable energy assets.
  • Recommission renewable energy assets and perform various performance tests.
  • Train and oversee lower-level Renewable Energy Technicians and sign off on their competency.
  • Complete maintenance logs and participate in on-call rotations for system monitoring.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 to 4 years of renewable energy experience (Wind, Solar, and/or Battery Energy Storage System).
  • Successful completion of the P2 Technician Qualification Standard.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate motor vehicles.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices, NEC requirements, and renewable energy systems.
  • Familiarity with testing and measuring equipment such as multimeters and infrared cameras.
  • Ability to train other technicians in maintenance procedures.
  • Proficiency in using advanced diagnostic tools and understanding system software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a technical role and participation in team projects.
  • Knowledge of team coordination and motivational techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
