About the position

WBZ-TV in Boston is seeking a creative and experienced Reporter/Multi-Skilled Journalist who is passionate about local news and can effectively connect with audiences across TV and digital platforms. The role involves generating creative story ideas, cultivating sources, and utilizing social media to enhance news coverage. The ideal candidate will be skilled in shooting and editing high-quality videos to deliver compelling stories to both broadcast and streaming audiences.

Responsibilities

• Shoot, write, edit & report news stories for WBZ-TV.
• Turn content, front multiple live shots, and write copy for the station website.
• Use all social media to promote assignments.
• Perform high-energy, engaging live shots as assigned.
• Develop and implement enterprise stories consistently.
• Supply news content to the station's social media and digital platforms regularly.
• Maintain dedication to accuracy, fairness, and ethics.
• Meet all daily production deadlines.
• React to breaking news situations with strong writing and reporting skills.
• Conduct interviews and create engaging stories as a skilled storyteller and writer.
• Collaborate with a team of managers on various projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 5+ years reporting experience at a news organization with proven experience in the field.
• Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism or a similar field preferred.
• Proven experience shooting and editing with small or mid-sized professional video cameras.
• Knowledge of social media and its use for promoting broadcast, streaming, and web content.
• Experience writing for the web is required.
• Knowledge of iNews rundown systems and Avid Media Composer editing preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, early mornings, holidays, and weekends.
• Willingness to join SAG/AFTRA Union.
