About the position

The Energy Claims Handler at Zurich North America is responsible for managing and overseeing large and complex energy claims. This role involves effective communication and coordination with adjusters, experts, and market panels, ensuring that all parties, including the insured and broker, are informed throughout the claims process. The position requires maintaining claims files and reserves while proactively driving the claims process toward timely resolutions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee large and complex energy claims.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination with adjusters, experts, and the market panel throughout the claims process.
  • Maintain regular contact with the insured and broker, ensuring all parties are informed and updated.
  • Ensure claims files are properly maintained and reserves are adequately managed.
  • Proactively drive the claims process toward timely and effective resolution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims and/or Litigation Management area.
  • Juris Doctor and 2 or more years of experience in the Claims and/or Litigation Management area.
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including an Associate Degree with 6 or more years of experience in the Claims and/or Litigation Management area.
  • Completion of Zurich Claims Training Program and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims and/or Litigation Management area.
  • High School Diploma Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims and/or Litigation Management area.
  • Must obtain and maintain required adjuster license(s).
  • Microsoft Office experience.
  • Knowledge of insurance regulations, markets, and products.

  • Ability to effectively communicate coverage determinations to customers/clients/brokers for complex claims.
  • Ability to direct counsel on an ongoing basis to guide the course of complex litigation and settlement strategies.
