About the position

The Research Analyst II in Biomedical Informatics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center plays a crucial role in supporting social, economic, or health-related research. This position involves a variety of tasks aimed at investigating, gathering, assessing, and clarifying data to contribute to the advancement of health and wellness. The analyst will be responsible for collecting, organizing, and evaluating data from diverse reference sources, which is essential for the preparation of reports and analyses that summarize research progress, trends, and conclusions. In addition to data collection, the role includes assisting in the modification and coordination of research procedures and techniques. The analyst will also be involved in recruiting and interviewing study participants, developing forms and questionnaires to ensure the collection of appropriate data. Maintaining database files, preparing materials for publication, and editing manuscripts according to accepted practices are also key responsibilities. The analyst will create informational materials related to research studies for dissemination to participants and the community, and will present study concepts in group sessions. Furthermore, the Research Analyst II will supervise and assign work to Research Analyst I, technical support staff, and student assistants. This position may also involve assisting in space and facilities planning and managing the inventory of supplies and equipment. Responsibilities

  • Collect, organize, and evaluate data from a variety of reference sources
  • Develop and document reports and analyses summarizing progress, trends, and conclusions
  • Assist in modification and coordination of research procedures and techniques
  • Recruit and/or interview study participants and develop forms and questionnaires that will collect the appropriate data from participants
  • Create database files, maintain records and assist in the preparation of materials for publication
  • Edit and/or type manuscripts according to accepted practices
  • Create informational materials related to research/study for dissemination to study participants, researchers, and the community
  • Make presentations of study concepts in group sessions
  • Supervise, plan and assign work of the Research Analyst I, technical support staff, and student assistants
  • Assist in space and facilities planning and manage inventory of supplies and equipment

Requirements

  • 1 year of relevant work experience
  • Basic knowledge of data collection processes and techniques
  • Ability to conduct interviews and prepare surveys and questionnaires
  • Familiarity with clinical research protocols and data collection forms
  • Basic analytical skills to evaluate data and draw conclusions
