About the position

The research associate position at b.next involves developing and testing core technologies for building synthetic cells. The role encompasses experimental work in various areas such as cell-free systems engineering, protein purification, DNA design, and liposome preparation, along with general lab management and operations. This position offers the opportunity to gain experience in a growing synthetic biology company and to connect with innovative biotech groups across different sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct experimental work in cell-free systems engineering.
  • Perform protein purification and DNA design.
  • Prepare liposomes and manage general lab operations.
  • Assist in bacterial culturing, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and molecular cloning.
  • Conduct plate reader assays and cell-free expression systems experiments.
  • Prepare buffers and media, and perform DNA purification, sequencing, and analysis.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in a relevant field with 2+ years of wet-lab synthetic biology or molecular biology experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in bacterial culturing, PCR, gel electrophoresis, molecular cloning, and plate reader assays.
  • Experience with cell-free expression systems and protein purification.
