The Department of Emergency Medicine (EM) at the University of Iowa is seeking a Research Associate to play a pivotal role in developing, coordinating, and reporting on various research activities within the department. This position is designed to support the research initiatives under the guidance of a Principal Investigator (PI). Depending on the qualifications and desired percent effort of the candidates, this role may be filled as a single full-time Research Associate at 100% or as two part-time Research Associates at 50% each. The Research Associate will serve as a data analyst and project lead, overseeing specific projects related to Emergency Medicine. Key responsibilities include managing the entire lifecycle of research projects, which encompasses data collection, database design and revisions, implementation, and maintenance. The role also involves conducting statistical analyses and interpreting results for peer-reviewed manuscripts associated with the projects. A high level of collaboration, attention to detail, accuracy, and independent judgment is essential for success in this position. The Research Associate will also be responsible for reconciling and administering payments for travel and department reimbursements, maintaining research work schedules, and managing cash handling processes for research activities. In addition to project management, the Research Associate will assist with grant budget management, IRB submissions, and compliance. They will co-mentor medical students, residents, fellows, and research assistants involved in emergency medicine research, ensuring they are well-versed in all aspects of human subjects' research. The position requires effective communication with research participants through various channels, including phone calls, emails, and social media. The Research Associate will also be tasked with developing and maintaining electronic databases, reviewing literature, and presenting findings at departmental and national meetings. This is a specified term position, with the potential for reappointment under certain conditions, and it offers a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful research in the field of Emergency Medicine.
