About the position

The University of Miami is seeking a full-time Research Associate I to join the Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Studies (CIMAS) in Miami, Florida. This position is primarily focused on developing software for the US Argo Data Assembly Center (DAC) within the Physical Oceanography Division of NOAA's Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing the software infrastructure that supports oceanographic data collection and analysis. In this role, the Research Associate I will be responsible for a variety of tasks that include writing and maintaining software in higher-level programming languages such as Java, Fortran, and C/C++. Additionally, the candidate will engage in shell scripting to automate processes and improve efficiency. The position requires designing, developing, and documenting robust software packages that are essential for the operational application of the data processing systems. The Research Associate will also contribute to monitoring the processing system and assist in the reprocessing of oceanographic data, ensuring that the software meets the operational needs of the DAC. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in software development and be comfortable working in a collaborative team environment. Excellent time management, communication, and documentation skills are essential for success in this position. Responsibilities

Requirements
