About The Position

The Research Associate position at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Baltimore, MD, is a long-term contract role focused on data management and statistical analysis. The role involves developing data dictionaries, preparing databases, performing statistical analyses, and providing data visualization support. The Research Associate will work closely with project teams to ensure accurate data handling and reporting, contributing to various scientific initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition Sciences, Community & Public Health, Statistics & Decision Science, Clinical Psychology and/or related fields.
  • Possesses either/or: R Certificate, SAS Global Certification, Coursera Machine Learning Certification.
  • Experience with: Statistical modeling, Literature review, Data presentation, Machine learning, Data cleaning, Data analysis, Research.
  • Experience with Software such as: RMarkdown, Python, STATA, SAS.

Responsibilities

  • Develop data dictionaries for each database.
  • Prepare databases and reports for staff; perform various tracking and analysis of branch data to include spreadsheet preparation and interpretation.
  • Provide final data sets for each project.
  • Perform statistical analysis for each project.
  • Provide analysis, analytical modeling, and/or data visualization on data sets using relevant data tools.
  • Apply statistical techniques to produce meaningful tables and graphs using appropriate software.
  • Prepare tables and figures from data analyses.
  • Provide draft results and output for statistician review.
  • Maintain data for past and present studies.
  • Provide tables or short summaries based on literature review related to the project.
  • Maintain and update electronic copies of all databases and data dictionaries developed for projects.
  • Provide support for all data sharing related activities; create and maintain data access and data submission tracking systems and reports to be presented to senior program leadership.
  • Perform database analysis to look for incomplete data elements.
  • Identify possible trends and patterns in the data; communicate relevant findings that support problem solving and decision making.
