About the position

The RADCO Research Associate will play a crucial role in organizing and managing neuroimaging data for the RADCO project at UCLA Health. This position involves a variety of responsibilities that are essential for the smooth operation of the research project. The Research Associate will conduct day-to-day activities, working closely with the staff research lead and the faculty lead of the neuroimaging core, as well as collaborating with other members of the research team at UCLA. This collaborative environment is designed to foster innovation and ensure that the project meets its objectives efficiently. Key responsibilities include data entry and organizing spreadsheets, which are vital for maintaining accurate records and facilitating data analysis. The Research Associate will also coordinate with the lab manager to place supply orders, ensuring that the research team has the necessary materials to conduct their work. Additionally, the role involves assisting investigators in the preparation of diagrams, posters, and papers, contributing to the dissemination of research findings. In supporting the Neuroimaging Data Core, the Research Associate will score data and enter it into the database, assist in organizing data for analysis, and maintain the existing database. Providing MRI scanning support for the research team is also a critical aspect of this position, requiring a solid understanding of neuroimaging techniques and tools. Overall, the Research Associate will be integral to the success of the RADCO project, contributing to the advancement of research in neuroimaging and its applications in healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct day-to-day activities of the project.
  • Work closely with the staff research lead and faculty lead of the neuroimaging core.
  • Responsible for data entry and organizing spreadsheets.
  • Coordinate with the lab manager to place supply orders.
  • Assist investigators in the preparation of diagrams, posters, and papers.
  • Score data and enter it into the database.
  • Assist in organizing data in the database for analysis.
  • Maintain existing database.
  • Provide MRI scanning support for the research team.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform tasks in an efficient, well-organized and timely manner with minimal supervision.
  • Skill in setting priorities, following through on assigned tasks and adhering to deadlines.
  • Good working knowledge of UNIX operating system.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Skill in working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to assess situations and problem solve using own judgment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with staff, researchers, and research subjects.
  • Computer skills including word processing, email systems, spreadsheets, data entry, and database maintenance.
  • Some experience in neuroimaging tools such as FSL, SPM, AFNI, or Freesurfer preferred.
  • Some experience in MATLAB, BASH or R preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
