About the position

Lawrence Berkeley National Lab's (LBNL) Chemical Sciences Division is seeking a Research Associate to contribute to a program focused on developing electrochemical devices for CO2 reduction. This role is integral to a collaborative effort between Berkeley Laboratory and other national lab partners. The successful candidate will assist the principal investigator in various tasks, including the assembly, testing, and performance analysis of dark electrolyzers designed for CO2 reduction to syngas. In this position, you will engage in electrochemical measurements and device-level testing, formulate electrode inks and additives for electrode fabrication, and determine device efficiencies through electrochemical and chromatographic separation methods. You will support significant components of assigned research projects and will be expected to interact productively with multiple team members. Your responsibilities will also include performing research assignments that involve the collection, processing, and analysis of data, contributing to publications, and maintaining rigorous experimental records. This is a full-time, 16-month term appointment with the potential for extension or conversion to a career appointment based on satisfactory job performance, availability of funds, and ongoing operational needs. The position is represented by a union for collective bargaining purposes, and the hiring hourly range is between $24.46 and $37.88, depending on qualifications and experience. Work will primarily be conducted at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, located at 1 Cyclotron Road, Berkeley, CA.
