The Research Associate position at Washington State University (WSU) offers an exciting opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research focused on the genes involved in plant resistance and fungal pathogenicity, particularly in relation to Sclerotinia sclerotium. This role will involve molecular genetics and biochemical analysis of the pathogen infection process and the defense responses in Arabidopsis and Canola plants, conducted within the collaborative environments of the Chen lab and the Tanaka lab. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and lead research projects, contributing to the understanding of plant-pathogen interactions and enhancing plant resistance strategies. Candidates will be working in a multidisciplinary team, where excellent communication and organizational skills are essential. The position requires a Ph.D. degree and a minimum of five years of experience in plant pathology, molecular genetics, biochemistry, or a related field. While experience in molecular plant pathology is advantageous, the primary requirement is a strong motivation to advance the research project. The role is fixed-term for 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on funding and project needs. The Research Associate will also be responsible for documenting research findings, collaborating with other researchers, and potentially mentoring junior staff or students. This position is critical for advancing the research goals of the College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS) and the Department of Plant Pathology at WSU.
