About the position

We are seeking a Research Engineer to join our Biomotion Laboratories, where we focus on advancing orthopedic treatments for musculoskeletal health issues. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about human movement and its impact on well-being. As a Research Engineer, you will work alongside a collaborative team of scientists, engineers, and clinicians, utilizing state-of-the-art technologies to collect and analyze biomotion data. Your contributions will directly support ongoing research projects and help in the design and execution of experiments. In this position, you will be responsible for preparing study participants for data collection, ensuring their comfort and engagement throughout the process. You will engage in collecting biomotion data using advanced motion capture systems, wearable sensors, and imaging techniques. Additionally, you will contribute to the processing of biomechanical and imaging data, employing specialized software and tools to extract meaningful insights. Collaboration with researchers and faculty will be key, as you will support various projects and maintain detailed records of experimental protocols and data files. Your role will also involve preparing comprehensive reports and presentations for research meetings and publications, showcasing the findings and insights gained from your work. The position requires a proactive approach to experiment design and execution, as well as maintaining laboratory equipment and fostering a safe working environment. Responsibilities

  • Prepare study participants for data collection, ensuring a comfortable and engaging experience.
  • Collect biomotion data utilizing motion capture systems, wearable sensors, and advanced imaging techniques.
  • Process biomechanical and imaging data using specialized software and tools.
  • Collaborate with researchers and faculty to support ongoing projects and aid in data processing.
  • Participate in experiment design and execution, contributing insights and ideas.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Organize and maintain detailed records of experimental protocols, data files, and participant information.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, documentation, and presentations for research meetings and publications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer and information science, or other applied sciences.
  • Two years of experience in applied research or a related field, with the possibility of substituting experience with equivalent education beyond the minimum requirement.
  • Ability to undertake complex and challenging projects.
  • Excellent research and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use computer systems or specified equipment essential for the related areas.
  • Ability to interact with scientists and researchers from other disciplines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Coding skills in MATLAB.
  • Experience in experimental biomechanics.
