The Research Programmer I position is a vital role within the Biomedical Research department at Dartmouth College, specifically in the BuckeySpace Medicine lab. This position is designed for an individual who will contribute to a multidisciplinary research lab that has a global reach. The primary responsibilities include the development, implementation, deployment, and maintenance of computer and web-based programs that facilitate the collection and analysis of data for various medical research projects. The candidate will be required to work independently, demonstrating the ability to learn new software and programming skills as necessary. The Space Medicine Innovations Lab focuses on several key areas of research, including assessing brain function through auditory systems in individuals with conditions such as HIV, Zika, Parkinson's, and Alzheimer's. The lab also develops new audiological tests for use in both developed and developing countries, tests interactive media-based behavioral health tools for isolated environments, and conducts research involving hyperbaric oxygen applications. Additionally, the lab engages in technology and science projects for NASA and the Department of Defense, covering topics like motion sickness and noise-induced hearing loss.
