About The Position

This position serves as the GAAMPs and GAPPs Advisory Committee Specialist. This position has primary responsibility for the development, management, coordination, and professional support of the nine Generally Accepted Agricultural Management Practices (GAAMPs) Advisory Committees and one Generally Accepted Processing Practices (GAPPs) Advisory Committee. The Advisory Committee Specialist is the primary liaison between the advisory committees, Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) leadership, and internal and external stakeholders. This position will oversee the ongoing GAAMPs/GAPPs review process in alignment with the Michigan Commission of Agriculture and Rural Development's (MCARD) annual schedule, the public comment period, and report on the recommended changes to MCARD. Additional special projects may include conducting specialized research into specific RTF issues, liaising with other departments to coordinate legal implications or conflicts between the GAAMPs/GAPPs and existing laws, and assisting RTF field staff with interpreting the GAAMPs/GAPPs. This position may be eligible for part time remote work and the official workstation will be determined based on the selected candidate.
