Respiratory Therapist - St Francis Medical Center - PRN

About the position

The Respiratory Care Practitioner II is responsible for providing respiratory care through patient assessment, planning, intervention, education, and evaluation. This role involves performing all respiratory care procedures within the scope of the practitioner's license, monitoring patient responses to therapies, and making recommendations for modifications based on assessments. Additionally, the practitioner serves as a preceptor to new team members, ensuring quality care and operational excellence in respiratory therapy.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the shift 'Charge Therapist' ensuring adequate staffing for patient care areas.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Perform treatments and therapies according to physician orders and modify treatment procedures based on patient response.
• Maintain proper documentation and patient medical charting.
• Provide patient education on cardiopulmonary diseases and treatment options.
• Set up and maintain respiratory therapy equipment and supplies.
• Respond to cardio-pulmonary resuscitations and participate as indicated.

Requirements

• Current Respiratory Care License in the state of practice (required)
• National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) credentialed (required)
• BLS Basic Life Support certification (required)
• ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (required)
• PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification (required)
• Two years of experience as a Respiratory Care Professional (required)
• Valid driver's license (required for Home Care/DME)

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) (preferred)
• Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) (preferred)
• Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) (preferred)
• ACCS (Adult Critical Care Specialist) - NBRC (preferred)
• Bachelor's Degree in a related field (preferred)
• EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training (preferred)
