About the position

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Caregiver with knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) to provide essential support and assistance to a 21-year-old male with mild developmental and intellectual disabilities. The ideal candidate will focus on enhancing the client's quality of life, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being while assisting with daily activities and providing companionship.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
• Support client with mobility needs, including heavy lifting when necessary.
• Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being, particularly for those requiring memory care.
• Offer companionship and emotional support to enhance the overall quality of life for residents.
• Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any changes in client condition to appropriate personnel.

Requirements

• Previous experience in home health or caregiving preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of first aid practices is a plus.
• Ability to cook nutritious meals tailored to client dietary needs.
• Strong understanding of client rights and the importance of privacy and dignity in caregiving.
• Physical capability to perform heavy lifting as required by client needs.
• Compassionate nature with excellent interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
• Flexibility in scheduling to meet the needs of clients.
