About the position

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Caregiver to provide essential support and assistance to a 21-year-old male with developmental and intellectual disabilities. The ideal candidate will have some knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) to effectively communicate with the client's deaf mother. This role involves helping the client with personal care activities and enhancing their quality of life through personalized care and companionship.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
• Provide light housekeeping services to maintain a clean and safe environment for residents.
• Support clients with mobility and heavy lifting as needed, ensuring their comfort and safety.
• Offer companionship and engage clients in meaningful conversations or activities to promote mental well-being.
• Respect resident rights by maintaining confidentiality and promoting independence whenever possible.
• Respond promptly to client needs and communicate effectively with family members and healthcare professionals.

Requirements

• Knowledge of client rights and the importance of upholding them in all aspects of caregiving.
• Ability to perform cleaning tasks efficiently while respecting the personal space of clients.
• Familiarity with home health practices, including safety measures for various living environments.
• Capability to assist with heavy lifting tasks while prioritizing client safety.
• Experience in memory care techniques to support individuals with cognitive impairments is beneficial.

Nice-to-haves

• Certification in First Aid is preferred, ensuring readiness for emergencies.
• Some knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) to communicate with the client's mother.
