About the position

The Retail Assistant Manager at Talbots is responsible for driving sales and providing exceptional customer service while fostering a positive team environment. This role emphasizes growth, both for the individual and the team, and involves mentoring associates, achieving sales metrics, and maintaining operational standards. The position requires a customer-centric approach and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Create and foster a culture of hospitality through exceptional customer experiences.
• Help customers look and feel their best by providing style advice based on their specific needs.
• Provide exceptional and meaningful customer service experiences that promote the product and build brand loyalty.
• Achieve sales and hospitality-driven metrics in key measurable areas including clientelling/outreach and appointment setting.
• Reinforce consistent selling and service standards through coaching, training, and accountability.
• Prioritize daily tasks and responsibilities to meet the needs of the customer, team, and business.
• Understand the appropriate balance needed between operational and selling energy and ensure proper planning/scheduling.
• Maintain knowledge of business and competitive landscape, fashion trends, and key business drivers to identify opportunities that maximize sales.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as local, state, and federal employment laws.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships that support a productive work environment.

Requirements

• Passionate about selling with a natural ability to generate traffic into the store.
• Strong work ethic, integrity, and respect for others.
• Customer-centric with an understanding of exceptional service's importance in growing store sales.
• Ability to educate, coach, and mentor team associates based on their individual strengths.
• Organized and strategic with the ability to make independent decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Clear communicator of business-related information and brand initiatives.
• Ambitious, enthusiastic, and friendly, with the ability to work cooperatively in a diverse environment.
• Technological aptitude to navigate and train on computer POS/iPad/handheld systems.
• Physical ability to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, and lift/carry/move at least 40 lbs.
• Flexible schedule availability including weekends and holidays.
