About the position

The Retail Sales and Operations Manager at the Walker Art Center is responsible for overseeing the retail store operations, focusing on people management, sales activities, and ensuring exemplary customer service. This role involves leading a team of retail associates to achieve sales goals and deliver an exceptional shopping experience, while also managing financial aspects and store operations.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Head of Earned Revenue Development to develop and manage the retail shop's budgets and financial goals.
  • Analyze business metrics and identify areas for growth, developing and implementing strategies to enhance in-store sales.
  • Lead the Walker Art Center Shops' retail, e-commerce, and wholesale business.
  • Oversee the customer service experience, ensuring that all staff are trained and modeling exemplary service standards.
  • Recruit, train, and manage retail sales associates, providing performance coaching and feedback.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure a cohesive retail strategy that aligns with Walker Art Center's goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of retail management experience, including people leadership.
  • Proven track record of achieving revenue and sales goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with retail POS systems and inventory management software.
