The Underpayments Analyst at R1 RCM plays a crucial role in validating and reviewing hospital accounts to identify additional revenue opportunities. This position involves confirming claim reimbursements, diagnosing the root causes of underpayments, and collaborating with support teams to resolve issues. The ideal candidate should have a strong analytical mindset and enjoy working with data to research payment discrepancies.

Responsibilities

• Work within the client's Patient Accounting system and payer portals to research accounts.
• Review created opportunities and evaluate expected reimbursement calculations.
• Determine if opportunities should be pursued with payers and outline necessary actions to resolve underpayments.
• Document accounts to support appeal and resolution efforts.
• Diagnose the causes of underpayments and suggest preventive measures for clients.
• Meet benchmarks for production, accuracy, and efficiency.

Requirements

• 2+ years' experience in hospital billing, resolution, revenue cycle, or data analytics, or a college degree.
• Organized and analytical self-starter with strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to document work completed.
