About the position

The Revenue Management Associate Analyst at NYU Langone Health plays a crucial role in supporting the Revenue Management Department by identifying, quantifying, and executing special projects aimed at increasing net revenue opportunities. This position involves conducting reimbursement analysis and reviewing current practices related to system interfacing, account audits, and contractual language to enhance the financial health of the institution.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and updates the monthly workload tracking document.
  • Performs and participates in other related duties as required.
  • Provides knowledge transfer and support to RMD staff.
  • Performs data collection tracking and analytical duties to respond to key issues, increase/track reimbursement opportunities, and process efficiency.
  • Assists in identifying trends for process improvement projects with departments to increase overall net revenue and charge capture rates.
  • Works collaboratively with Auditors and department management/administration to understand services provided and capitalize on opportunities for increased reimbursement.
  • Identifies administrative errors, inaccurate service code assignments, and discrepancies in charging and/or reimbursement methodologies based on charge audit trends.
  • Data mines from hospital information systems and runs reports to find opportunities for revenue generation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Finance, Business Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of related healthcare administration, financial, or revenue cycle analysis experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in financial analysis, budgeting, business and process analysis, and working knowledge of third-party reimbursement.
  • Comprehensive understanding of audit and reimbursement systems, managed care contracts, rate structures, billing and collection processes, and utilization review.
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of managed care terminologies and ability to interpret hospital bills, explanation of benefits, and medical records.
  • Strong computer and systems application skills, particularly in MS Access, Excel, and Word.
  • Knowledge of NYULMC IT systems such as Epic and EPSi.
