About The Position

Electric Boat is seeking a Rigger to assist in building advanced submarines. This position offers paid training and opportunities for growth. Riggers will be involved in lifting, handling, and moving heavy loads both indoors and outdoors, using various rigging equipment and mobile cranes. The role requires effective communication with crane operators and the ability to work in various environmental conditions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years of experience in rigging, heavy equipment operation, tow truck driving, or related experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Available to work all shifts and support overtime as needed.
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme temperature conditions.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from policies and procedures.
  • Possess basic hand tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Rigging or related lifting & handling experience or training.
  • Heavy Equipment Operator experience.
  • Forklift experience.
  • CDL license.
  • Experience in Mobile Crane and/or overhead crane operation.
  • Experience operating Crawler Crane.
  • Vocational, Technical, and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs.
  • Understanding of basic crane hand signals.
  • Experience working in the construction environment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints.
  • Military/Navy experience.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all indoor & outdoor lifting, handling, and moving of heavy loads.
  • Use typical rigging equipment including straps, cables, chains, slings, block and tackle, pulleys, and booms.
  • Work with mobile cranes with a capacity of up to 120 tons and overhead cranes with a capacity of up to 60 tons.
  • Use hand signals to communicate with mobile crane operators for safe lifting and handling functions.
  • Perform work on ships, barges, indoors, and outdoors.
  • Work at heights, in confined spaces, and in inclement weather, supporting extended hours and overtime as needed.
