About the position

Peraton is seeking a Senior Risk Advisor/Technical Writer to join our Mission Assurance and Operations Research Analysis (MA/ORSA) team in support of the Joint Force Headquarters DoDIN, located in Fort Meade, Maryland. In this role, you will serve as an expert to assist JFHQ-DODIN in understanding, identifying, assessing, and managing risks that affect the secure operation and defensibility of cyberspace. This includes a wide range of systems such as DoD intelligence systems, mission support systems, weapon systems, new technologies, capabilities, networks, cyber-physical systems, control systems, cloud environments, and data stores. Your responsibilities will include supporting operations research analysis for intelligence and cyberspace operations, contingency operations, and operational-level planning. You will also be involved in joint and multilateral training exercises and strategic engagement policy. The role requires you to analyze actual and predictable operational activities of systems to provide a quantitative basis for decision-making through the application of logic and scientific or economic techniques. You will assist other research analysts in devising modeling and measuring techniques to investigate complex issues and solve problems, as well as address requirements and evaluate data assessment strategies. Additionally, you will prepare charts and diagrams to assist in metrics analysis and problem evaluation, create Trend Analysis Reports, and perform documentation and vetting of identified vulnerabilities for operational use. You will define and aggregate risk across the breadth and depth of the JFHQ - DoDIN and participate in preparing battle rhythm events that incorporate various operational variables to determine overall risk for defense critical missions. Your work will culminate in producing high-quality papers, presentations, recommendations, and findings for senior U.S. government intelligence and operations officials.

Responsibilities

  • Assist JFHQ-DODIN in understanding, identifying, assessing, and managing risks affecting cyberspace operations.
  • Support operations research analysis for intelligence, cyberspace operations, and contingency operations.
  • Analyze operational activities of systems to provide a quantitative basis for decision-making.
  • Help research analysts devise modeling and measuring techniques to investigate complex issues.
  • Prepare charts and diagrams for metrics analysis and problem evaluation.
  • Create Trend Analysis Reports and other periodic documents in coordination with the ORSA team.
  • Document and vet identified vulnerabilities for operational use.
  • Define and aggregate risk across the JFHQ - DoDIN.
  • Participate in preparing battle rhythm events incorporating operational variables to determine overall risk.
  • Produce high-quality papers, presentations, recommendations, and findings for senior officials.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience with a BS/BA; or 10 years with an MS/MA; or HS plus 16 years of experience.
  • Experience writing studies that answer senior leader questions and support decision making.
  • Minimum five years of experience as an Operations Planner in cyberspace operations.
  • Technical writing experience, including producing briefings, charts, and diagrams.
  • Experience monitoring and reviewing strategies, doctrine, policies, and directives for compliance.
  • In-depth understanding of Defensive Cyberspace Operations.
  • Fluency in government and corporate communications media, including MS Office products.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with various stakeholders in multiple formats.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work periodically on shift to assist the team.
  • Active DOD TS/SCI Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Specialized Certifications such as DoD IAT II or higher (SSCP, CCNA-Security, GSEC, Security+ CE).
  • Experience in developing complex dashboards, reports, and automated searches in Splunk, ArcSight, or Elastic/Kibana.
