About the position

The Risk Analyst / Credit Underwriter at Tekcard Payments is responsible for evaluating and managing risks associated with merchant transactions. This role involves conducting risk assessments, monitoring transactions for fraud, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The position is integral to maintaining the integrity of the payment processing system while supporting the onboarding of new merchants.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough risk evaluations for new and existing merchants, analyzing financial statements, credit histories, and processing behavior.
• Monitor daily transactions to detect unusual activity, potential fraud, and compliance violations.
• Assess the creditworthiness of merchant applicants, determining appropriate processing limits and terms.
• Perform regular reviews of merchant portfolios to identify and mitigate risks associated with changing processing patterns or market conditions.
• Work closely with Sales, Underwriting, and Customer Support teams to ensure a smooth onboarding process while maintaining risk controls.
• Ensure adherence to internal risk policies and industry regulations. Prepare detailed risk reports and present findings to management.

Requirements

• 2+ years in risk analysis, credit underwriting, or fraud prevention, preferably in the payment processing, banking, or financial services industry.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
• Strong ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make sound risk decisions.
• High attention to detail with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving potential risks.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
• Familiarity with risk management tools, credit reporting software, and payment processing platforms.
