About the position

The Vice President - Risk Data Management role will be within the Risk Department (RMDAD), reporting to the Director - Risk Data Management. The role involves executing data governance, improving operational data quality, leading data-related projects, and implementing BCBS 239 compliance. The Vice President will ensure timely, accurate, and complete collection and aggregation of risk data, act as a data steward, and provide guidance to ensure best practices are followed. Responsibilities include defining, monitoring, and maintaining the risk department's data assets, establishing inventories of key data outputs, documenting data lineage, and defining data quality controls. The role also requires collaboration with internal stakeholders and technology partners to support the risk data governance program.

Responsibilities

  • Execute data governance and improve operational data quality.
  • Lead data-related projects and implement BCBS 239 compliance.
  • Act as a data steward and ensure best practices are followed.
  • Define, monitor, and maintain the risk department's data assets.
  • Establish inventories of key data outputs and key data elements.
  • Document data lineage and define data quality controls.
  • Establish key performance indicators for data quality and report on metrics.
  • Identify data quality issues and work with stakeholders to resolve them.
  • Ensure risk reporting is accurate, clear, and timely.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to escalate issues.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise in risk data.
  • Provide data expertise to technology and regulatory projects.
  • Implement technology to support the risk data governance program.

Requirements

  • 6 - 9 years of experience in relevant fields.
  • 3 - 4 years of specialized experience as a data practitioner in Financial Services, preferably in the risk domain.
  • BS/BA required, preferably in computer science, information/data/system management; MBA or MS/PhD in information science preferred.
  • Strong communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.
  • Experience leading a team of 2 - 4 people preferred.
  • Strong ability to lead in data governance and data quality issue management.
  • Experience with industry standard data governance tooling, e.g., Collibra.
  • Experience in risk reporting preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of banking data systems (including SQL, NoSQL) and cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure).
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage a significant workload with minimal supervision.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.).

  • Experience negotiating and resolving conflicts.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
