Baptist Health Medical Group is seeking a dedicated RN Cardiac Device Programmer to join our Floyd Cardiology team in Jeffersonville, Indiana. This full-time position operates during the first shift and is integral to the testing and monitoring of patient heart rhythms. The RN will be responsible for all aspects of implantable rhythm management device follow-up, which includes pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices, and implantable loop recorders. The role requires effective communication with physicians regarding patient status, providing patient education, and maintaining accurate records of patient interactions and device performance. In this position, the RN will engage in trans-telephonic monitoring of pacemakers and perform interrogation/testing on patients with various cardiac devices, both remotely and in person. The ability to assess interrogation/testing results is crucial, as the RN will need to make independent decisions regarding follow-up schedules and pacemaker settings when appropriate. Accurate documentation of patient records is essential, and any device or rhythm abnormalities must be reported to the physicians promptly. Additionally, the RN will be involved in scheduling patient appointments and maintaining comprehensive records of patient information. The role also includes performing device operations during atrioventricular (AV) and ventriculo-ventricular (VV) echo optimizations. This position requires a commitment to continuous learning, as the RN will need to stay updated on new devices and attend periodic educational classes to enhance their skills and knowledge in cardiac rhythm management. The ideal candidate will possess a current RN license, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred, and must have a solid understanding of cardiac rhythms. Certification through the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) as a Certified Cardiac Device Specialist is required within three years of hire, along with maintaining an active Basic Life Support (BCLS) card through the American Heart Association. Advanced knowledge of cardiac rhythms and experience with device operations during AV/VV echo optimization are preferred qualifications for this role.
