About the position

The Registered Nurse at Lake Huron Medical Center is responsible for delivering safe patient care through the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role involves direct patient care, guiding patient and family education, and overseeing the activities of other nursing personnel while ensuring high standards of care in the Direct Observation Unit (DOU). The nurse will communicate with physicians regarding changes in patient conditions and must respond quickly to any clinical changes. This position is full-time, working night shifts on a Telemetry floor, and requires availability for every other weekend and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Provide direct patient care within the scope of practice.
  • Direct and guide patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel.
  • Maintain standards of care in the Direct Observation Unit (DOU).
  • Communicate with physicians about changes in patients' clinical conditions.
  • Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient conditions or responses to treatment.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Current valid State Registered Nurse License.
  • Minimum of one year experience as a staff RN in an acute care hospital, critical care preferred.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current ACLS (AHA) certificate within 30 days upon hire and maintain current preferred.
  • Completion of Critical Care Course preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
