About The Position

The Registered Nurse I position at Carilion Clinic focuses on assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care to achieve optimal outcomes for patients of all ages. This role involves collaboration with healthcare teams and patient families to develop and adjust interdisciplinary care plans, ensuring that treatments and medications are administered accurately and that patient education needs are met.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing or an approved program eligible for VA licensure exam.
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure.
• Obtain CPR certification and, as needed, ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications.
• Computer skills required for electronic medical record (EPIC).
• Successfully complete orientation and competency requirements.

Responsibilities

• Complete age-specific admission and ongoing assessments, documenting them to develop a plan of care.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members and patients/families to develop, implement, and evaluate an age-specific interdisciplinary plan of care, revising it according to changes in patient status.
• Accurately administer and document treatments and medications for patients of all ages using automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
• Identify patient/family educational needs in a timely manner and incorporate them into the plan of care, implementing and documenting appropriately.
• Demonstrate the role of patient advocate, protector of patient's rights, and provider of psychological/social/cultural support.
