About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Inpatient Gyn/Ped at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center is responsible for coordinating total patient care and education for patients during their admission and discharge. This role requires the nurse to function independently across various departments including ICU, CVSU, ED, medical-surgical floors, and telemetry floors, under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer and Nurse Manager. The RN will rotate shifts based on facility needs and is expected to maintain professionalism while collaborating with healthcare teams and documenting patient care accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate total patient care and education for admitted and discharged patients.
  • Function independently in ICU, CVSU, ED, medical-surgical floors, and telemetry floors.
  • Document total care given and maintain patient charts per policy.
  • Assist with accurate and timely entry of patient data, orders, and charges into the computer system.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Nursing Officer, Associate Chief Nursing Officer, Nurse Manager, physicians, and other healthcare staff.
  • Promote teamwork between staff, physicians, home health, and outpatient clinics.
  • Attend mandatory education sessions and maintain all certifications and licensure requirements.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Mississippi.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to document patient care accurately and timely.
  • Pass a pharmacology test for the position.
  • Attendance to yearly mandatory education requirements.
